ONG PASYD TOGO

PASYD is a non-governmental organization who entered a fight against poverty in Togo in 2001. It supports the initiatives of auto-development of deprived populations to contribute to a sustainable improvement of their living conditions. THE NGO organizes, trains and accompanies the youth and the local communities in their economic and social projects.

 

Objectives

  • Promote the creation and the development of small firms to improve poor populations’ income;
  • Accompany the rural and urban communities in the implementation of social projects necessary for the well-being of their populations;
  • Educate the populations with the aim of a change of behavior and necessary attitudes for a sustainability of the efforts of development undertaken in their favor;
  • Promote women’s financial autonomy;
  • Promote a sustainable management of the Environment.

Legal recognition

PASYD has the following recognitions in Togo:

  • Acknowledgment receipt of “association loi 1901” delivered by the Secretary of the territorial Administration;
  • Certificate of NGO(NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION) delivered by the Secretary of Development and of Town and country planning;
  • Signatures of two program-agreements with the Secretary of Development and of Town and country planning since 2004;
  • Headquarter agreement with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs.

Collaboration with structures and national projects in Togo

  • Member of APRODECT (Support for the Promotion of Decentralization) project of the Secretary of Territorial Administration and Decentralization;
  • Member of the steering committee and of the technical committee of the project PROVONAT (Promotional program of the national voluntary service in Togo), managed by the Secretary of Development;
  • Member of the regional committee of planning of the coastal region ( CRP/Maritime) ;
  • Member of the Local Committee for Development (CLD) of the “prefecture du Golfe” (The bay prefecture).

Course of action

PASYD is a NGO which acts continuously on the ground in Togo.

On the ground, PASYD undertakes actions of development such as the working out of plans of development for villages in Togo, the building of collective infrastructures in villages, education to citizenship, awareness campaigns about AIDS, SIT and family planning, the tutoring and reforestation.

PASYD also accepts every year trainees in continuing education in the fields of entrepreneurship, office automation and ICT.

These actions are possible thanks to an active solidarity between Togolese professionals and volunteers as well as western volunteers who offer multiform supports within the framework of the implementation of the projects.

Human ressources

  • 8 employees, (Sociologists, Agricultural engineer, Economist, Administrator, Accountant, office automation Secretary);
  • 4 trainees ;
  • About ten volunteers (doctor, nurses, civil and rural engineers).

PASYD’S assest

Since its creation, PASYD acts in collaboration with foreign volunteers, mainly French, Swiss and Belgian. In practical terms, this collaboration means:

  • Volunteers coming in Togo to:
    • Animate trainings about entrepreneurship;
    • Take part in development actions in rural areas (villages);
    • Take part in the education to development program.
  • For now more than 200 volunteers took part in PASYD’s actions.
  • Collective reflection with volunteer about how set up the actions on the ground;
  • The creating of two French offices (One in the region of Brittany and one in Languedoc Roussillon) and of a supportive organization in Switzerland  (“To go to Children”);
  • Collaboration with European and Canadian volunteers from a distance.
